Velveteen Rabbit Project Inc. aims to address significant health disparities among minority communities in Arkansas. These disparities include higher rates of hypertension, strokes, and other critical health disorders that disproportionately affect minorities. These health issues are compounded by limited access to healthcare services, particularly for those re-entering society after incarceration.

The big day may have come and gone, but keep in touch as we’re always up to something new and exciting.
The Velveteen Rabbit Project, Inc. is dedicated to transforming the health landscape for minority communities in Arkansas. Our purpose is to bridge the gaps in healthcare accessibility, providing much-needed support and resources to those who are often overlooked. We serve individuals from racial and ethnic minority groups, especially those who have recently re-entered society from short-term incarceration, ensuring they receive the health screenings, education, and resources they need to thrive.
We recognize the complex challenges these communities face, including higher rates of hypertension, strokes, and other critical health disorders. By offering comprehensive health services and educational events, we aim to empower these individuals with the knowledge and tools to lead healthier lives. Our commitment to inclusivity ensures that our initiatives are accessible to all citizens within the state, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility.

The Velveteen Rabbit Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing essential services to the homeless in Central Arkansas and Southern California. Our mission is to guide, direct, and assist individuals in various areas, including health clinics for physicals and vaccinations, housing navigation, employment counseling, and more.
We embody Humility, never judging who you are or where you come from. We stand for Integrity, upholding the highest standards of human rights. We are Family, always here to love and support you.

The feedback from community leaders highlighted the barriers that minorities face in accessing healthcare and the lack of resources available to them.
Link to Related Issues: Health disparities are closely linked to other socioeconomic issues prevalent in minority communities.
Addressing these interconnected issues requires a holistic approach that includes health education, advocacy for policy changes, and collaboration with local community leaders and organizations. By focusing on these areas, the Arkansas Minority Health Empowerment Initiative aims to make a significant impact on the health and well-being of minority communities in Arkansas.

For years, I have worked to help people who are often overlooked. Through the Velveteen Rabbit Project, community outreach, and housing advocacy, I have seen firsthand how quickly seniors can fall through the cracks. Many elderly people are living alone, struggling with unsafe housing, rising costs, health problems, and now something many people do not talk about enough — the digital divide.
Today, if you cannot use a computer or smartphone, it can feel impossible to survive. Many seniors do not know how to apply for housing online, search for jobs, pay bills, fill out forms, or access resources that younger generations take for granted. Some are one emergency away from homelessness simply because the world changed too fast.
This mission is personal to me.
I know what housing instability feels like. I know what it means to move from place to place searching for safety and stability. Those experiences inspired me to fight harder for vulnerable people, especially seniors who deserve dignity, compassion, and support during this stage of life.
Our vision is to open our first senior transitional housing program no later than November 2027. This program will provide safe temporary housing, technology assistance, resource navigation, and emotional support for seniors facing hardship, displacement, or homelessness. We want to help restore hope and independence while creating a true sense of community.
Our initial goal is to help four to six seniors every six months. While the numbers may sound small, every life matters. Every senior deserves to feel seen, valued, and protected.
We are building more than housing. We are building a bridge for seniors who feel left behind in today’s fast-moving world.
With donor support, community partnerships, and people who truly care, we can create a safe place where seniors are not forgotten , a place where they can rebuild, reconnect, and move forward with dignity.
